Texting Alternative

I just moved to the UK from the US. I want to keep in touch with my friends back home. Does anyone know of a cheap way to text back to the US?? Suggestions???

Theres this service called chime my sister in law told me about. You get a US phone number to text from your mobile or computer. It is free, for now atleast, and you can text to friends in the US without racking up international charges because you are using a US phone number. You have to sign up with your email at www.chimenow.com/int and they set up your account for you.
